My Long Run

I am currently on a solo run of 1002 miles in a calendar month. The distance is of course based on the date of Lance’s diagnosis, and is in memory of my Dad who died of Cancer of the esophagus five years ago in September.

Later this year we are opening the first ever LIVESTRONG Cancer Navigation Center in Austin, Texas. The center is next to our headquarters and will service those affected by cancer in Austin and the surrounding counties. It is our goal to make sure those that come into the center are offered emotional, physical and practical support they need to LIVESTRONG. Below is a video of what it is like inside the center and what to expect from our staff when you visit.

Yesterday, I attended the inaugural Ride for Yellow event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Dave Nagel, a grassroots fundraiser and the brother of Steve Nagel (an extraordinary fundraiser in his own right), created a grassroots, community-based mountain bike event benefiting LIVESTRONG and Steamboat cancer initiatives.

The event kicked off with a party at the Honey Stinger office in downtown Steamboat. The folks at Honey Stinger did a great job; fantastic BBQ, cold beer and a good band.
