I had a steady job and money was not a worry for me. I was confident that I could achieve all the things in life that I wanted; but one day I woke up with extreme lower back pain. I went to my chiropractor who said he couldn’t help me, so I tried going to work, but the pain was excruciating. I had just moved here from Dallas via Austin and I was excited to see a fellow Texan race in the Rockies. The experience motivated me to take my new found hobby of cycling a little more serious.

It can be cathartic and cleansing and, for families separated by thousands of miles, it can be a way to update with those they love. Yesterday, I asked our Twitter community what cancer blogs they read/write. Below are a few that were submitted. If you have a blog that you’d like to share, please post the link in the comments below and tell us why you blog.

This 3-day event gives films-for-a-cause the attention they deserve by putting them up on the big screen in a theater setting. LIVESTRONG submitted a film to the festival called “Missed” about the difficulties of being a young adult with cancer. We are honored to be a part of the festival and appreciate all that came out to watch the film. You can watch the film below. We’d love to hear your feedback.

Over 80 celebrities battled it out to win bragging rights and a hefty $600,000 purse. LIVESTRONG was proud to be the signature charity of the event raising awareness of the foundation and our mission to inspire and empower people affected by cancer. We were able to interview a few of the celebrities and volunteers about their cancer connections. Here’s what they had to say.

Competing in this year’s Race Across America was an experience that, for me, involved just about every conceivable human emotion and condition: Joy and sadness; comfort and pain; periods of strength and endurance, punctuated by moments of abject exhaustion when I could not imagine turning the pedals one more time.

Race Across America (RAAM) is a 3,000 mile bicycle race from California to Maryland. The entire time I was on the bike, I thought of my mother, Jean, who lost her battle with stage four lung cancer last autumn after four brave years of living strong with the disease.…

My name is Mackenzie Neel and I am so thrilled to be able to share something I have been involved in this year at my high school in New Braunfels, Texas. I’m in a class called Independent Study Mentorship that allows kids to design their own senior projects. My idea was to create a fundraising and service event focused on children with cancer.

This year cancer has risen to the number one cause of death, with over 100,000 deaths of children alone due to this global epidemic. I have been deeply affected by cancer within…

Please give us a brief background on your wife’s diagnosis, and how long you were her caregiver.
Susan was originally diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2003. She had a mastectomy and chemo, after which she was in remission. I suppose you could say I was her caregiver for five years.

But really, Susan…
