RadioShack Corporation is proud to announce a partnership with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to form a new American Pro-Tour cycling team. Beginning in 2010, Lance Armstrong will compete for Team RadioShack as a cyclist, runner and triathlete in events around the world, including the 2010 Tour de France.

“This has been a great season so far – the response in the countries we’ve been to has been amazing and it’s clear now that this was the right choice. Utilizing the massive media attention that the sport receives has been the perfect vehicle to help spread the LIVESTRONG message around the world,” said Lance Armstrong. “To be able to compete for an American team comprised of the world’s top cyclists, supported by the best coaches and staff – I couldn’t be happier to partner with RadioShack, a truly iconic American brand,” said Lance Armstrong.

We look forward to support you Lance, and to support Radio Shack too, it will be a winning team!

  2. Douglas Pate says:

As a person who has experienced others in my family and friends fight cancer, not all have won, and a total Tour de France follower for 31 successive years, Lance has been my number one since I saw him win the worlds in Oslo!! I found and read his book the very week my girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer and just as my father was beginning treatments. Cycling touches people and the Tour touches most. We need, in our fight against cancer and our campaign of awareness, touch as many people as we can.

Lance will succeed in this campaign and working through his love of cycling is the most natural thing he could do.

Good luck Lance. Good luck Radioshack and Good Luck Livestrong.

  3. Kris Darney says:

    Lance,
This is great news. A Real American riding for an American team. On my way to RS to by a new flat screen to watch the climb to Mont Ventoux

    God Bless…God Speed…Go Lance!

  9. tmana says:

Will Radio Shack now be the signature sponsor/co-sponsor for the TREK/Livestrong U23 team as well? (and will TREK and/or Nike remain sponsors of Livestrong and/or the U23 team?)

  10. It’s great to have an American Team that’ll have such a high profile, both for the sport and the Livestrong message. Congratulations on pulling in one of America’s largest retail chains and, in addition to increasing awareness for Cancer research and prevention, perhaps Radio Shack will provide a platform to draw a new audience into cycling as well.

    Here’s to it!!!

I never liked Nike, but would have gone out and bought major Nike stuff had they stepped up and threw money at the team. Seems like they missed a great opportunity to make a big play.
I’ve always respected Radio Shack and I’m going to focus real consumer loyalty on them…I’m glad to hear the team is cycling and tri- if age groupers showed the kind of rabid loyalty that NASCAR fans did, our sports and causes would be farther ahead.
    Viva la Lance!
Grass roots support for Radio Shack everyone get out there and buy Radio Shack!

  14. Charlotte Gregg says:

Thank you Radio Shack. Looking forward to seeing you and Lance in the Tour de France 2010… Very Exciting.

  15. Jere Carpentier says:

Lance, just that you are continuing to ride, and ride so well, is so important to so many. What a great tribute to those fighting their cancer and giving them hope of what can be by just fighting to get through it. You are an inspiration to watch…and such proof that the battle can be won and that life can bigger and better than ever after. It certainly renders you fearless once you reach the healthy side again. Again, a true inspiration. Congratulations on the new partner!!

Radio Shack? I’ve never associated Lance Armstrong or the Tour de France with cheap Chinese goods. I really won’t enjoy watching next year and I certainly won’t enjoy thinking about Radio Shack.

  18. Don says:

Awesome news Lance! The infighting on AST must have been distracting. Wish you the best in the remaining stages and look forward to next year. I’m also hoping to join your charity ride in TX this year. Best

  20. Patrick says:

Lance, it is so good to see you riding for something besides fame and glory. I am a cancer survivor, which helps me understand why you are doing what you are doing.
In the past you proved that not only could you survive cancer but that you, and others, could thrive after having cancer.
But now you are out to prove that together we can do even more. Together we can pull together the resources needed to not simply survive the disease, but conquer it.
That same determination you have that helps you do so well in cycling is now being utilized to make the world a better place. Thank you Lance!

  21. Sandra Mitchelhill says:

Hello Lance, great news about the new team. I’m Australian so not familiar with RadioSchack, but I guess I’ll learn a lot more about the company now.

Just watched a replay of the time trial – can’t imagine how you guys go so well after a day like yesterday.

Whilst watching the Tour, I’ve seen all the Livestrong messages. I’m so impressed with your work.

7/24-Lance, You are such an inspiration to my husband who has been battling stage 4 Colon Cancer for 6 years. Dont let anyone tell you that you have not made a difference in peoples lives. Looking forward to the new race team….. Peggy and Mike

Fantastic to see you back this year in the TDF Lance. My father died from cancer in February this year and he too was a massive fan of yours. Watching you in the tour this year has been bitter sweet for me, but I know my Dad would have been shouting you on up those mountains.
I can’t wait to see you back next year.
You are an inspiration to all of us.
    Next year make it Yellow!

Your efforts will no doubt be rewarded. I hope others will be inspired just as I have been and join your fight against cancer and donate to your foundation.

I look forward to watching the greatness that is to come.

    Thanks,
    Barb Nichols

  34. Darrell Mc says:

What a joy it has been to watch Lance Armstrong compete in several Tour de France events! Lance has personally transformed that event, brought it to the forefront of sports world-wide and has played a significant role in promoting healthy sports activities in this country. It’s great to see the numbers of people getting involved in a broad range of activities surge after each year’s Tour. At 67, I’ll never be able to be competitive. Wish I could. So, I’ll just get back out there, in spite of health issues, and profit from whatever level I can achieve. Thanks, Lance, for everything. Best of luck!

  37. Mathoorasing dean says:

Lance, it was a good decision to come back again on the TDF. I think you would have been 2nd on the tour if contador didn’t attack too early that day when nobody understand the decision of contatdor. Well, you have given the tour a better perspective and a lot of people will be keen to watch you in 2010. I wish you to win the TDF in 2010! Good luck and work strong for it. We will be waiting for that special year.

  38. Win H. says:

Congratulations, Lance, on your tremendous performance in the Tour. We were cheering for you all the way and my husband kept telling everyone how wonderful it was to see a 34 yr old come back into such a gruelling sport and do so incredibly well.
Then we found out you are almost 38 and his jaw dropped to the floor!

  39. judy davis says:

We Love you Lance. Not just for your wins. You have done so much for the fight against cancer and the determination to keep fighting the disease. It would be so nice for you to make a biking DVD for cancer patients or anyone that is unable to get out on the streets.Stationary biking helped me so much with my fight against cancer. It was the one thing I could do,a little at a time.I would love to ride along with you and some nice scenery where we could all know you helped us through the big cancer fight. Thanks so much and Thanks Radio Shack.

  40. Patrick Derry says:

Lance, Congratulations on your ‘09 tour success. You are an inspiration to millions. It’s awesome to see Radio Shack getting involved in the sport. I’m sure you will assemble the finest team that you can. Don’t forget Levi!!

It’s so nice to see that you are as passionate about your fight against cancer as you are about cycling, if not more so. I’d love to see you and Radio Shack thump the big headed Contador off of next years Tour podium. My family and I are going to try to make our first trip to Europe to see you and support you in the 2010 Tour de France.

Keep doing what you do. You’r a great human being!

  41. Carlitos says:

Congratulations Lance for winning again the Tour de France!! You have shown Alberto Contador that you are the number one and really the strongest, leving him far back, more than 4 minutes, in the softest tour in years!! It is obvious that you are the boss!! Jajajaja!!!

  42. Ann Garbarino says:

Glad to hear of a new team for the U.S. I do hope that Kloden is considered as he was really done the dirty by a certain rider. My only wish is that more cycle events were televised, to think another year to the TdF. Can’t understand cyclist not realizing that without a strong team behind them, they wouldn’t make it.

  43. Melanie from Virginia says:

You are truly an amazing person Lance Armstrong, and I look forward to watching you in 2010 with the new Team RadioShack. God speed!
