Livestrong™ Lance Armstrong Foundation

Unite and Fight - Livestrong Blog

Every day we receive emails, calls, tweets and letters from people all over the world. The two questions we receive most at LIVESTRONG are “How can I help?” and “How can I honor someone affected by cancer?” What a testament to the global reach of the LIVESTRONG message! The issue we’ve had is how to best organize and effectively mobilize people that want to get involved and make a difference. What if there was a global movement to show the huge personal impact of cancer that pushed governments and other global decision-makers to take urgent action? A movement that campaigned for better treatment, more cancer funding and access to care for everyone, and that gave ordinary people the tools and the power to get involved?

Using the cutting-edge online organizing techniques that have revolutionized politics and social movements in recent years, LIVESTRONG Action will empower millions to get involved in the fight against cancer. LIVESTRONG Action adds urgency and focus to the global fight.

During the Tour de France, we will collect signatures on the World Cancer Declaration and offer each supporter the opportunity to dedicate his or her signature to someone who has served as an inspiration. We will work to build these submissions into the world’s largest dedication book—a living document that demonstrates the personal impact of cancer by showing the extended network of friends and supporters touched by each cancer survivor. LIVESTRONG will work to ensure that world leaders receive the book as we call on them to make major commitments to the fight against cancer.

It’s simple to join the movement at LIVESTRONG Action—visit us online at LIVESTRONGAction.org. It takes just a moment to sign up, and after you do, we’ll keep in touch by email about our latest campaigns.

I dedicate my sign to Ullevål Universitetssykehus in Oslo, who helped my mom to fight cancer in the 1980s and two moths ago saved my life from a sever heart-attack. (I´m now back on my bike to).

I think you do a tremendous job, Lance.

  2. Hello, my name is Nena Faulkner 47 yrs. I had a seizure in 4/05 they found a brain tumor which they removed part of it through surgery they couldn’t get it all. A couple of days later my Dr. calls me at home to tell me that pathology had come in with the results and yes I had cancer, glioblastoma grade 4 . He said I had 9 mo. to live and if I had any questions to call his office. I cried I dropped to the floor and called my husband and told my 3 kids I was dying. Well of course the questions came and the Dr. office was not available to answer any thing since the Dr. was back in surgery. Thank goodness for a friend who brought Lance Armstrong’s book to me in which we found a 1-800 number in it to contact his foundation. They answered all our questions and gave me hope. Thanks Lance
