He is a cancer survivor and has been active in supporting the cancer council's in Australia in promoting their message. It would have been great to see both he and Lance together, as 'Rama' is probably the one person in Australia who most closely resembles Lance's story. Struck down by cancer, battling through it, only to suffer a reoccurrence, beating it again and playing AFL football at the highest level once more. His is a story of inspiration and he continues to rally people to support the cancer awareness message even now in his retirement.
