We’ve kicked off the “Show Us Your City Spirit” Rally for the 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenge series, and there’s no doubt that Austin, Texas, the great capitol city of the great State of Texas will represent and represent BIG! That’s just how we do it in Texas, where everything is bigger and better.
Our goal is to increase the number of participants and the amount of funds raised for the Austin LIVESTRONG Challenge. This is about our Austin Challenge pride, as well as bragging rights. The winning Challenge city will receive a video message from Lance Armstrong, a virtual International shout-out! It doesn’t get much better than having the leader of the LIVESTRONG movement endorsing your efforts in the fight against cancer!
Why is Austin the best Challenge city? I’ll tell you: the Challenge started here in Austin 12 years ago as the Race for the Roses. The Foundation is headquartered here in Austin! And, in the past two years, as compared to the other cities, Austin has had the highest participation rate and raised the most money.
In Texas we have a saying that goes like this: “It ain’t braggin’ if it’s true,” and that’s a fact! Those are the facts there friend; however, that’s all in the past. We’ve got a reputation to uphold here! So are you game?
Show your LIVESTRONG Challenge Austin pride! Sign-up for the LIVESTRONG Challenge Austin, October 24-25 and make plans to walk, run or ride with us! Generate some funds in your account by reaching out to friends and family for small donations – $5, 10, $25 – it all goes a long way to supporting those living with cancer and those that are survivors.
With your help, Lance will tell the world why the Austin LIVESTRONG Challenge is #1.
