“In 17 years as a pro I have been lucky to avoid one of the most common cycling injuries. The crash has put my upcoming calendar in jeopardy but the most important thing for me right now is to get back home and rest up and begin my rehab,” said Armstrong. Astana Team doctor Pedro Celaya was with Armstrong at the hospital. “Lance suffered a fracture of the middle third of the right collarbone as well as some bruises on his right hip and arm,” added Dr Celaya.

This will make next year’s come back even bigger. Now I have enough time to save up for the 0210 Tour de France. Seriously, nobody can recover from a setback like this quicker than you. Look forward to seeing you back on the bike, make it soon!
Get well soon Lance…hope you are feeling better.
Knowing you (well not actually knowing you, but you know what I mean)
your shoulder will probably heal up stronger than it ever was, and in some
bizarre way make you even faster! Good luck in rehab–if anyone can make
the best of a bad situation, it’s you.
Good Luck with your surgery Lance,
I remember you saying, ” it’s not what you have, but what you can find”! I know you’ll dig deep and get back on the bike soon.
I’ll be wearing my “Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop” T-shirt to work tomorrow. I’m 64 now and started riding twice a week when I followed your tour wins and your amazing story. Get well soon Mr. Armstrong, the whole world needs your spirit and work in many ways.

I am so sorry to hear of the crash. For what it’s worth Lance, I have had a bad crash that involved torn soft tissue in a shoulder separation. The doctors had told me then, that I would have been a quicker recovery if it had been a collarbone break (if I had had a choice in the matter).
I am not a pro, but I love to ride and watch you ride. I feel your pain, my brother of the two wheels, and I have already begun praying for both your physical and mental healing.
“This is but a light affliction” – 2Cor. 4:17
Say it isn’t so, Lance! We wish you the best and hope you have a speedy recovery!
get well soon lance!! you are an amazing biker, and im sure that nothing can keep you from competing in the next bike tour you do. i mean you’ve made it through cancer, which no one thought you could do, and won the tour de france that same year. so im sure this won’t be too much of a blow to you. anyways, have a good recovery from the injury.
Leo
Lance, I hope you heal quickly and that this “roadblock” does not interfere too much with your well filled schedule. Take it easy and do what the doctor says…and it will!!

I hope you have a speedy recovery, it was great watching you ride again in cali, but the main thing is to get better my family and I say “get well soon”
Get well soon. I’m looking forward to you kicking some ass in July.
Get well soon. Looking forward to you kicking some butt in July.
Lance, I have always admired your spirit, your mental strength, and your ability to use tough circumstances as a springboard to launch you past your competitors. How many times has un unfair event made you so pi%%ed off that you used that raw emotion to motivate you to new heights? My prayers are with you to ease the pain right now. My heart is with you to recalculate your path in the future. No matter what your 2009 race record ends up looking like, I’ll always be in awe of all that you’ve accomplished. Now hurry up and heal that bone !!
Love you and all that you stand for. In line with millions of fans–get strong fast.
If anyone can recover quickly from this, it is YOU!! You were my 5 yr. old boy’s inspiration when we took the training wheels off of his bike. When he fell and was a little fearful of getting back on, he mentioned your name and said, “lance can do it, so can I !!” Rock on, brotha!!
Get well soon lance I’ve had the same injury it sucks but you can over come it I know you can! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Get well soon Lance!
Just a little adversity to get the competitive juices flowing.Have a good rest…see you holding the Champers in Paris.
So sorry to hear of your crash, Lance. We wish you a fast recovery and know you’ll overcome this challenge. Best wishes, Eric and John
Best wishes for a speedy recovery from DFW !
I’m really sorry to hear it, but we’re here always proud, always cheering for you bro! Love from Mexico.
Lance, I feel so bad for what happened to you, is it possible for the Drs to pin the bone back together, I had it done to the bone in my arm after falling on the ice. It healed much faster than when i had a cast a few years before that. take care, I know you will not let this stop you, because you are the Man!
It’s OK Lance. It happens. Somebody broke my fibula for me. Do like I do [way you've always done] and pluck them off one by one in the holls! No worries mate.
May you heal soon. May you also continue to focus on the work you started which continues to influence millions around the world. Although racing has been your life and continues to be important, I believe “the work” is your future and it is more important than anything.
We don’t need no stinking collarbone…
I’m sure the road had no idea who was hitting it or else it would have been softer.
All the best and a speedy recovery. Here’s hoping that you will be able to race again, wearing the yellow jersey under the Arc de Triomphe as we take one step closer to curing Cancer.
From one Texas to another I wish you a speedy recovery.
We know your pain and can only imagine you frustration! If anyone can do it, you can. Be Strong!
Get well soon and congrats on your Flanders – American Award. Liliane
Speedy recovery and congrats for your Flanders/American Award
Ouch.. been there man! Bad fall with broken collar bone, road rash, bruised him. Believe your doctors, you’ll only be out for a couple months. Start making your come back plans, it will be here before you know it!
BUGGER… !!!!
All the very best Lance, get fit and ready for the Tour de France – it will be a walk in the park.
JD
Lance I just broke mine in a recent bike accident. Trust me you will heal fast! Take care
When I am injured I see it as enforced tappering before a big event. Should be fine for a trip to France I would think. All the best.
Wishing you a speedy recovery from California. I saw you at Tour of California and as a fellow cancer survivor, you will get through this as you have overcome much bigger challenges.
Cheryle
I broke my collarbone in a 2007 crash during a qualifying race for the TdF predecessor. To ride in France, I had to do another qualifier a few weeks later while broken.
I was 43, you’re younger. If you want to continue, you can do it. Courage!!!
Get back on your bike if you can… even a little …please…you represent me now! Prove me right i have little support and no platform brother. much love
Sorry to hear about the clavicle. Suffered the same injury last summer. If there’s anybody who can overcome this setback. Good Luck!
Get Well!!! I have really enjoyed watching you again.
You’ve been through worse crashes. I’ve read your book and I know this fall is just a minor bump on the road. You can recover and continue being a source of inspiration to all. Win the 2009 Tour de France!
I had the same injury last August. Recovery may be quick even if first days are very painful. Take care, one piece of advice move your arm in order to avoid phlebitis (happened to me). Hope to see you on the Ventoux in July. Stephane in Paris
Best wishes on a speedy recovery Lance.
What is it they say in Hollywood (you’d know better than I)? There is no such thing as bad publicity, or something like that? Well, they’re talking about you on ESPN, and you’re all over the internet. Where am I? LAF.org. And I’m reading about the global fight against Cancer.
Manage the pain and heal well so that you can ride again, but keep up the great work that your foundation does.
Wishing you all the best from Del Rio, TX!
I hope you heal quickly Lance, lots of hugs and love for a speedy recovery, need to see your smiling face on the tour xx

Hi Lance…. I’m not worried at all. Know you will be at the TDF and of cause be no 1 again! Get well soon….. and get back on the bike! I missed you the past few years at TDF and can’t wait for July. Greetings from all your fans in South Africa.
Stage 4 Lung cancer patient diagnosed on 10/9/07. I ride an average of 100 miles a week. You have been my inspiration, my motivator and my support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Get well wishes to you and give em’ hell at The Tour!!!!
Lance – to paraphrase LA’s War …14 years at the top, not winning all the time, but THERE, not the first guy dropped, not in grupetto all through the year…
This new role doesn’t suit you. Its not your character to support other’s plans during the race and it distracts you. You’ve never had an injury like this before in a race because you’ve never been in a position like this in April.
Please take care – but come back and win #8.
keep fighting the good fight lance, i am sure you will be back riding in no time. we will be keeping you in my our prayers for a speedy recovery.
According to dutch television star Mart Smeets you have to brake a collarbone to become a true cyclist. Welcome to club Lance! Just heal fast and kick some 4ss in france!

Heal soon, Lance. My daughter was back on the bike within 6 weeks of her clavical surgery after her crash. (She was on her trainer, or the bike to no-where as she called it, sooner.) Enjoy the extra time with your kids!
Lance I saw you on the Amgen Tour of California, you’re still the man!!!
I really hope you can make it to France, nothing to prove there, just be there, please, for the good of cycling and to bring the sport where it belongs
You’re a great example of overcoming difficulties!!!
God bless Lance!
Hey Lance, I was very happy to see you riding another time, this crash is nothing for you. You’ll go quickly through this.

take it easy, but take it. show the trolls who is the boss.heal strong.looking forward to seeing smashing pedals once again.
Lance,
You are an incredible motivation for millions of people. You inspire those that follow you to always be their best. You have done incredible things for cancer research and are a role model for millions.
I wish you a speedy, strong recovery. I know you will bounce back better than ever. I can’t wait to watch you on the Tour again this year.
Live strong.

Hi Lance,
The minute I finished the last page of your book, the report came on our news that you had broken your clavicle. What’s with that!!!??? I’m a nurse and your storey explains to me the look on some of the patients faces, so thanks. I also now feel like I have to suck it up and move my ass when I run compared to what you and other riders do and go through. So, look after your self, no more breaking clavicles and good luck in the Giro and the tour. I’ll be watching (at 1.30 am here!).
Luv Tanita.
P.s Pls be kind to Cadel, Stuart(Ogrady) & Robbie
you’re my hero.. taught me how to pick myself up after a fall, brush the dust off my knees and .. get back on the bike!
wish you the very very best.
Lance,
You have inspired me to go out and compete in Triathlons this year. I was going to do my indoor training while you pushed yourself to compete in the races leading up to the Tour De France. With you out I have lost my ambition. Give me a glimmer of hope you will be back. I know that is what I am going to need to push myself.
Get Well Soon,
Tom
Lance, All the best to you. Sorry to hear about having surgery. Heal fast, we will be praying for you.
Lance,
You’ll be back–no pain no gain. Like many others, I hope to see you back at the tour, you inspired me to move on (cancer survivor, same place as yours) and eventually we had a son, post cancer, against all odds, his name is Lance Harry…in any case, get better and get back in the saddle, we’d love to see you in the tour. If not, you’re still numeral uno in my book.
Jeff Harry–Kingsford, MI
Lance,
I have seen you crash hard and come back with great determination such as when the bystander’s bag caught your handle bar and swiftly took you to the pavement during one of your many Tour victories. Challenges that stop others are mere speed bumps to the greatest Tour rider in history. Don’t take a risk in the Italian Tour. By the way, I don’t have travel plans to be in France for the Tour, but look forward to your return with much anticipation as do millions of other fans.
Live Strong,
Gregory
I was hit by an uninsured drunk driver January in Austin and broke many bones plus my clavacal…my surgeons were great here and I’m sure your’s in Austin will get you back to ‘cycling shape’ in no time too!!! After reading your book about your battle with cancer, this will be just a ‘drop in the bucket’…welcome back to Austin…sorry it has to be under these circumstances….get well!!!
Lance my prayers are with you.Get back fast as there are so many people that look up to you.
I believe setbacks build character and you have lots of character so you’ll get through this. Everytime I’m out biking, skiig or whatever and it is a major struggle, I tell myself it’s a character building training and it’s those memories I pull out during a big race and then I go faster, harder and with more perseverance. All the best, you are my hero and you’re in my prayers.
All Italians hope you will be at Giro d’Italia!
We wish you all the best! You are able to win big battles! This injury is nothing compared to others!
You are a strong…Armstrong!
Best wishes!
Lance,
You are the reason for my Tour de France passion. I haven’t watched since you retired. The sport needs you back and I know you will pull through this challenge with grace and a fighter’s spirit. Rest, recuperate, and you’ll be back on the bike in no time. I look forward to rooting you on and getting swept up in all the Tour signifies once again, thanks to you.
We lost my mom to cancer last year and my father is stage 4 and in the fight of his life right now. Thanks for everything you’ve done and continue to do on behalf of the cancer community.
Ruth (Long Island, NY)
Speedy recovery!
C’mon Lance we’ll wait for you here in Italy!!! You cannot miss it!!Il Giro del centenario (the 100° edition of GIRO D’ITALIA) won’t be the same without you!! I really wish you get back on track as soon as possible and be in Venezia in May!!!
Good Luck and see you soon!!
Marco
Lance, perspective is everything, isn’t it? Heal fast, be safe!
Ben J
Buck up, cowboy! My husband recently broke his clavicle in two places requiring surgery, two plates and 8 screws. He made a sling from his spare inner tube and walked out of the trail about 4 miles pushing his bike!!
This happened over the holidays so he wasn’t able to see a doctor until 6 days later! I realize you are after all Lance Armstrong, but this sure has given me renewed respect for my old man…he’s 50!!
Lance,We all pray for a speedy recovery. You are a hero not just for biking but for having gone through Cancer with a great Attidude. The great attitude you have will help you now too.
Come on Lance! Get well soon…
We are so looking forward to seeing you in the Tour de France this year… oh the exhileration of it all.. you know everyone is hoping your able to do it, even the other cyclist!! They all want a shot at your title…! So come on boy…get well … get training and let the boss kick some ass!
Lance,

The Tour de France tour is not without you!
Go Lance !!!!! Go Lance!!!! Vive Le tour de France
