Livestrong™ Lance Armstrong Foundation

Unite and Fight - Livestrong Blog

This past Saturday people from around the world picked up their Wall Street Journal and read an article that accurately captured why the Lance Armstrong Foundation wants to put a stop to the stigma associated with having cancer. The paper highlighted how difficult it can be to share one’s story with family and friends. Across many cultures, the stigma of cancer results in a deadly silence that keeps folks from seeking treatment and the help they need — in the U.S. and abroad. Take a look at what these people have to say about their cancer experience and when you are done with the article go to our website and learn how you can support the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Initiative.

One Response to “WSJ Article on the Stigma of Cancer Worldwide”

regarding the “stigma of cancer”…I have to say that my oncologist recently said to me, “Lance Armstrong has taken cancer ‘out of the closet’”. That is a powerful, yet true statement, especially from an oncology professional, since they see so many cases on a day to day basis. Acceptance and sharing of your story is part of the healing that needs to be done. If cancer is part of “your story”, it needs to be heard. This is our greatest tool in bringing awareness and in personal healing.
