Pueblo, CO
Having just returned from Pueblo, Colorado, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you about my time at the Reverend Roger Patrick Dorcy Cancer Center…this Cancer Center is one of the Community Affiliate partners for the University of Colorado Cancer Center, which is a member of the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network.
The Dorcy Cancer Center services a very large catchment area…patients may travel there from throughout southeastern Colorado, as well as western Kansas and northern New Mexico. The staff there under the leadership of Don Abdallah (Cancer Center Director) and Dr Joel Ohlsen (Medical Director) are poised to develop one of the leading survivorship programs, not only among the Community Affiliate partners for the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network, but community hospitals nationwide. The collective energy, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness of the group there at Dorcy Cancer Center are truly noteworthy.
One of the true blessings of the survivorship program at the Dorcy Cancer Center is having a Program Coordinator like Lynn Spencer-Tafoya…Lynn not only planned meaningful LIVESTRONG Day activities for the staff, survivors, and their families, but she embodies the true essence of ‘LIVESTRONG‘ as she navigates and trouble-shoots many different complex issues that they encounter on a daily basis.
It was a real honor and privilege to spend LIVESTRONG Day 2008 in Pueblo, Colorado…I would highly recommend that you take time to visit the Dorcy Cancer Center if you are in Colorado!!

I am so glad I had a chance to chat with Caroline. And I hope Lance has a chance to look at the photo of my Artwork in the Library. LIVESTRONG DAY is a special day for a Survivor like me. I wear my wristband with pride!
