Here is a list of cancer organizations that have information tables at Shawn’s Livestrong Day event:
•Firefighter Cancer Support Network
•Cancer Care of Long Island
•Lustgarden Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research
•Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition
•The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
•Witness Project of Long Island
•Long Island Cancer Help & Wellness Center
Helping bring awareness of local organizations that are in the fight against cancer is one of the things LAF does best. It is amazing to see a whole community supporting the work these groups do. Livestrong Day rocks Long Island!

My name is Shawn Owenburg, and I was the host of Tuesday’s event on Long Island, NY. I wanted to thank Willy for attending our event. I hope it met his expectations. We had approximetly 250 people attend, The Town of Babylon’s 1st annual Livestrong Day, and we are still counting donations. Our event was a complete success, from our fabulous speaker, the politicians that attended, the organizations & foundations, but most of all the community. To see our community come together for such a great cause was very emotional to me. We constructed our Livestrong Chain which, filled the truck of my wife’s car. The chain was about 150 ft. long and inspirational messages from all over our community covered each link. We are already in the works to organize The Town of Babylon’s 2nd annual Livestrong Day 2009. WWe have about 100 volunteers signed up and politicians from all over Long Island contacting me to be a part of next years event. I want to thank the L.A.F for all that you do and esspeacially Willy Snell for attending as a L.A.F Reprecentative. I hope he enjoyed recieving the Proclamations from our Town and our County and I hope to see him next year. Thank you everyone who attended and remember, Livestrong.

I was at NYU Medical Center for 6 days during my 17 Yr old son’s 2nd Chemo treatment for “NGGCT” and read Lance’s book “It’s Not About the Bike” while there from Apr 30th until May 5th, 2008. It kept me & my son strong that very difficult week. LIVESTRONG Lance!!! We wear your LIVESTRONG bracelets everyday now!
