Albuquerque, NM

May 14th, 2008 by Diana Berno (LAF Staff)

Yesterday I had the honor of meeting Michael Sheppard, a very ambitious 17-year-old, and his friends and family who were all out to support him and his mission to support our efforts at the LAF. Mike was recovering from a surgery a few months ago and read a few of Lance’s books while in the hospital. He was so inspired by Lance’s story that he himself wanted to make a difference, too, and so began the plans for yesterday’s event.

LIVESTRONG Day Albuquerque consisted of an inaugural 5.6 mile LIVESTRONG Day ride (in honor of the estimated 560,000 people whose lives are taken by cancer each year) and the gathering of quite a few supporters and riders.

I’m not sure what the final count is on the fundraising efforts or attendees, but thank you and kudos to Mike and his crew for making such an impact on me and on Survivorship!
