Richmond, VA

May 13th, 2008 by Devon McGoldrick (LAF Staff)

What an amazing day in Richmond!  I spent the afternoon at Images Main Street Salon where the staff  was looking good in their  LIVESTRONG gear and celebrating survivorship with a  yellow paper chain honoring people affected by cancer.  The afternoon featured tasty snacks, a juggler/magician and a balloon artist.

This evening I was off to another great Richmond event.  I met up with event organizers Sarah and Dave Birckhead and many others to compete in a team footrace/treasure hunt all around the city.  The race was so much fun and proved to be the perfect way to see the city & get in some exercise.  I loved rounding corners and spotting other teams (easy to do with everyone wearing yellow) racing around, working together to crack codes, and figure out riddles.

Thankfully the race concluded at a local restaurant where everyone could put their feet up and relax while learning more about the LAF, sharing what LIVESTRONG means to them, and raising money with a raffle.   Many thanks to Ruth and the gang at Images, the Birckheads, and Karen and Nicole, my fabulous teammates (we came in 2nd place!) for a  great LIVESTRONG Day in Richmond!
