Columbia, MD

May 13th, 2008 by Mandy Patterson (LAF Staff)

I just attended the LIVESTRONG Day- Howard County event organized by the Ulman Fund for Young Adults. The event took place in Columbia, MD on Columbia’s Lake front. County Executive Ken Ulman read a proclamation naming May 13th as LIVESTRONG Day in the County and folks listed to live music while enjoying lunch outside by the water.

I met an amazing woman named Allison Ward who spoke at the event. Allison is a cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed at age 19 and is now facing her 3rd occurrence at age 36. LIVESTRONG means information, resources and networking to Allison. She talked about the “gift” of cancer and was so positive and inspiring.
