NYT and LAF Project
There was a very interesting piece in the New York Times today. It deals with an issue that LAF is committed to addressing…
What is LAF doing about it?
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and the Education in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) Project are partnering to improve the relationship between cancer survivors and healthcare providers. The LAF supports the EPEC-Oncology workshop that gives cancer care professionals the necessary knowledge and skills to manage patient symptoms, communicate effectively with patients and discuss cancer clinical trials. This workshop is offered annually at the EPEC conference produced through the Buehler Center on Aging at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and through distance learning at www.epec.net.
In addition, the LAF and EPEC are creating a workshop that will educate cancer survivors and caregivers about cancer survivorship issues from the point of diagnosis to end-of-life care. This program will include educational materials to help facilitate a positive, proactive role and relationships between patients and healthcare teams. This program will be available for use later this year.
