As many of you know I sit on the President’s Cancer Panel along with Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr. and Dr. Margaret L. Kripke. Today, there are several stories on our yearly report to the President. This year our focus was on lifestyle changes and how leading a healthier life could save hundreds of thousands of lives.
As quoted by Dr. Kripke in this article approximately 50% of cancer deaths are related to obesity and tobacco use and those are things that we have direct control over in our daily lives.
You hear me say it over and over – the dream is that we get rid of this disease forever. To do that we need to take personal responsibility for the choices we make everyday, as well as work together to continue to push for our elected officials to do their part.
