Another Reminder

March 27th, 2007 by Lance Armstrong

Today started with me heading back to my hometown (Dallas) to give the keynote speech at the Association of Fundraising Professionals National Conference.

The audience was full of people who dedicate their lives to raising money for so many great causes and I was honored to share my story with them.

As I was walking in to the event my blackberry went off. The message - Tony Snow has a recurrence of his cancer. In that moment I was reminded again of how pervasive this disease is.

We were reminded last week with Elizabeth Edwards. We were reminded again today with Tony Snow. My question is how many public reminders do we need before this conversation becomes part of the national dialogue.

Next week both Democratic and Republican Presidential hopefuls will meet in New Hampshire for the first televised Presidential debate of the campaign.

Hopefully the candidates do not need any more reminders to start talking about this issue.

I want to send my thoughts to Tony Snow and his family. Like Elizabeth Edwards, Tony is part of the LIVESTRONG family and we are all pulling for him.

LIVESTRONG,
Lance

P.S. I did an interview with Armen Keteyian this afternoon and later today I will be doing another interview for the CBS Evening News.
