Elizabeth Edwards

March 22nd, 2007 by Lance Armstrong

Both Elizabeth Edwards and her husband John have become great examples for us today.

In the face of her cancer recurrence, Elizabeth was quoted as saying that “I expect to do next week all the things I did last week. And the week after that, and next year at the same time.”

John Edwards went on to add “You can go cower in the corner and hide or you can go out there and stand up for what you believe in. We have no intentions of cowering in the corner.”

As Elizabeth and John know, the fact of the matter is that life goes on. As it says in the LAF’s Manifesto: We believe in life. Your life. We believe in living every minute of it with every ounce of your being. And that you must not let cancer take control of it.

Elizabeth, I know what you must be feeling. There are 10 million people living with cancer in the United States who know what you are feeling. Not a day goes by in my life that I do not think about the possibility of recurrence. It is something that everyone living with cancer deals with every day. Your courage is an inspiration to the rest of us.

I send my best wishes to the Edwards family.

LIVESTRONG,

Lance
