Practical Issues

March 6th, 2007 by Lance Armstrong

“Without Health Benefits, a Good Life Turns Fragile” was the title of a story that ran yesterday in the NY Times. When you hear me say that “we must address the practical issues that affect people living with cancer”, this is what we are talking about. In many ways the battle with cancer truly starts when you “leave the hospital”. Whether it be issues involving insurance, employment issues or any in a range of other financial issues we must do more as a country to address the needs of these people and make their transition back to a normal life easier.

I also wanted to catch you up on a busy weekend.

As many of you know, I have already met with a few of the Presidential hopefuls and hope to meet with all of them. On Saturday I had the opportunity to sit down with Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. Romney and his wife Ann were in Austin over the weekend and I spent some time with them talking about the work that the LAF is doing and our ambitions to put the cancer problem on the national stage.

I also have included some pictures from a commercial shoot here in Austin for FRS.

LIVESTRONG,

Lance
