NYC

February 13th, 2007 by Lance Armstrong

Today I met up with my good friend and LAF Board member, Dr. Harold Freeman. Dr. Freeman is the President, Founder and Medical Director of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem. His knowledge is unending in the areas of the underserved population and he is considered the leading authority on the relationships between race, poverty, and cancer.

We spent some time discussing the need for this country to provide adequate care for all who are diagnosed.  Unfortunately, too many individuals in lower income communities are refused proper care and treatment - and that is not acceptable. I am always inspired by my visits to Harlem and the amazing work that Dr. Freeman is leading.

I also visited with some staff and patients (see pictures below).

Remember to tune in for the Colbert Report (11:30 ET, Comedy Central) Wednesday night.

LIVESTRONG,
Lance
