Tobacco Debate
About a week ago I wrote in this space about tobacco. I was coming off the President’s Cancer Panel meeting in Mississippi on tobacco and encouraged about a bipartisan group of congressional leaders reintroducing legislation to require FDA regulation of tobacco.

West Coast Update
The Tour of California wrapped up yesterday with a big win for Team Discovery and I couldn’t be prouder of the guys and all the work they put in. As always the Paceline has you covered.

Quick Update
I just wanted to give everyone a quick update. I was in Phoenix last night giving a speech for my longtime sponsor AMD. The speech focused on the role technology could play in the health care system. The rest of this week I will be at the Tour of California cheering on Team Discovery Channel.

I’ve been talking a lot about the need for scientific innovation and medical breakthroughs in the fight against cancer. It has become a more prominent issue lately with the budget cuts at NCI and I think it is a good sign that we are now discussing it.
There is still so much we don’t know about what causes cancer or how to stop it.
